    Will Thompson is the President and Founder of Oakdale Capital, a real estate firm focused on innovative investment strategies and asset management.

    Will believes in a data-driven approach to real estate investing, which allows our team to successfully integrate the most important aspects of intuition and experience with the highly critical elements of objective and systematic decision-making. Will’s focus at Oakdale is capital sourcing, project selection, underwriting, due diligence, deal execution, and asset management.

    At Oakdale Capital, Will applies his knowledge and experience to build a firm that aims to be mindful of its impact on communities while striving for financial success.

    Before starting Oakdale, Will spent seven years as a Co-Founder and Managing Principal at another premier real estate investment firm based in the Midwest, where he gained valuable experience in project underwriting, deal execution, debt and equity capital sourcing, asset management, ground-up development, project management, construction, and property operations. Will oversaw the acquisition and development of over $500 million of real estate assets and was a main driver of growing the company to over 5,000 units and 130 employees during his tenure.

    Will’s background includes practicing law with a focus on real estate development, financing, and leasing at a top-tier Maryland firm. His career also spans roles in accounting, finance, and marketing strategy for several entrepreneurial ventures. These experiences have given him a broad perspective on real estate investment and managing businesses from small startups into significant presences within their industries.

    Educationally, Will holds a Juris Doctorate from the University of Maryland Francis King Carey School of Law, where he also served Associate Editor of the Maryland Law Review. He also earned an MBA from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and a BS in Accounting and Finance from Villanova University School of Business. Will also played football at Villanova and was a member of the 2009 Division I FCS National Championship team.

    Personally, Will is married and lives with his wife and two young children in Lakeview, Chicago.

    Oakdale means, literally, a broad valley full of oak trees. But the name means much more to us than the dictionary definition. Oakdale Avenue in Chicago, Illinois is the birthplace of our business. Oakdale Capital’s first multifamily project is located on West Oakdale Avenue and represents the idea that every new venture begins with a first step, which is often the hardest. To us, the name serves as a consistent reminder of the importance of family, independence, and aspiration as we grow and evolve our organization over time.
